St. Michael is one of the most densely populated parishes in Barbados as it is home to the capital city of Bridgetown therefore when considering your accommodation you need to decide if you want to be close to all the action.
There are many tourist attractions, restaurants, bars and nightlife located within the parish of St. Michael so this is one of the best parishes to stay in for your accommodation.
By choosing an apartment, guesthouse, hotel or villa in this parish you are in an ideal location for sightseeing, diving, nightlife, dining out and will be in a central location for duty free shopping.
The parish of St. Michael starts at the Garrison Savannah and runs all along the south coast road through Bridgetown and runs all the way up the west to Paynes Bay.
So if you are thinking of renting a luxury condo or villa then you have the choice of whether to stay on the south coast before Bridgetown so that you can head back along the south coast road to areas like St. Lawrence Gap for nightlife or whether you would prefer to stay the other side of Bridgetown so that you are close to calm bays for swimming and world class cuisine with all the great restaurants on the west.
St. Michael boasts a number of good hotels that offer all-inclusive accommodation, half board with just breakfast included or even just a room only.
If you chose to stay in a Barbados hotel then you have the benefit of all the hotel amenities such as swimming pool, bars and restaurants. A hotel would suit you if you intend to have the odd day trip out perhaps to play golf, go to the races at the nearby Garrison Savannah or to take a trip on a Catamaran, all of which leave from St. Michael and then intend to just relax around the pool on your other days.
Maybe you want the convenience of a guest house, which is like a hotel but more cost effective. You can select whether or not you want staff on hand to cook for you, or you can just treat it as a base to come and go as you please.
Depending on the type of holiday that you are looking for and who is travelling with you, you might decide that a self catering apartment would suit your needs better. Sometimes if you are on holiday with small children a self catering apartment is less stressful than having to fit in with the hotel meal times.
If you intend to be up at dawn every morning to go diving then an apartment might be a better option or if you know that you want to try all the great restaurants and that you will eat out every night then again an apartment would be the best option.
