Fitts Village beach is located on the west coast of the island, in the parish of St. James.
Fitts Village is on the southern half of the west coast of Barbados, it has homes, shops and boasts of a large supermarket. However, due to all the development that has gone on along the west coast over the years, Fitts Village fits in seamlessly rather than being alienated and antiquated. Fitts Village Beach boasts golden sand and calm water, however this can be slightly rocky and there is no lifeguard on duty.
Things to Do
There is a beach bar to buy food and drinks, and changing facilities with showers and toilets. There is a band stand and promenade for special events and is directly opposite Jordan’s supermarket if you wanted to have a picnic on the many well maintained benches dotted around looking out to sea in the beautifully landscaped park. This beach is also a great spot for snorkeling; you may even bump into a turtle or two.
Just to one side of the beach is an Italian restaurant, while on the other lies a few old fashioned Bajan fishing boats. This just about sums up the whole west coast, Fitts Village included; A place where the future is at hand and development thrives, all the while holding onto and maintaining a way of life from long ago.
