Cool Jazz is a series of jazz events which take place on the last Sunday of each month between January and June and for the fifth year running Notes to Note had proven that it has found the right marketing mix for the Cool Jazz series which had led to steady growth over the previous four series.
This growth has been so significant that it has lead to a decision to move the event from the grounds of the Southern Palms Hotel to the Plantation Garden Theatre which is larger and a better equip venue for the showcase of the performing Arts.
The focus of the event is to showcase the best in local and regional jazz talent. The show also has a discovery segment which allows emerging jazz artiste to open the event for the nights featured act, thus giving them the chance to be showcased to a captive jazz audience.
Notes to Note and Cool Jazz has formed a strategic alliance with the prestigious Berklee College of Music which has led to the college sending professors to perform at one of the events over the past three years and providing scholarships to musicians from the region on an audition basis.
This relationship has led to five Barbadian students receiving scholarships to the Berklee summer performance program.
Notes to Note plans to continue to develop the Cool Jazz series and has hopes of seeing it expand to the neighboring Caribbean islands.
