GAIA is fully owned by the Government of Barbados however commercial operations are run by the company directly. A government-owned media corporation, the CBC also owns 3 radio stations and a wireless Cable TV subscription service. The Barbados Marine Trust is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting environmentally and socially-sustainable use of Barbados’ marine areas. Membership includes from individuals in the fishing industry, hotel and business sectors, dive and water-sport operators and even school children and the community at large. The Trust works towards the creation of a long-term marine management plan. Central to the plan are advocacy and awareness campaigns concerning the importance of, and need for a permanent policy to protect the future of Barbados’ marine resources.

The Barbados Fire Service is the government department responsible for fire suppression in Barbados, fire coverage and emergency response services twenty-four hours a day. Other services include fire safety inspections, disaster emergency planning, consultative services and public educational programmes.
