Special Olympics Barbados
Special Olympics are an international organization, which promotes sports for intellectually challenged young people in schools in Barbados. The idea is that sport promotes physical fitness and it promotes achieving goals by working together in teams. These exciting events are open to all ages and are free of charge to attend and take part.
It opens on Sunday 11th of March from 9am at the Hockey Centre, Garfield Sobers Gymnasium where there will be a Football and Bocce, which is a form of Bowls.
For ages 8-11 there will be the track and field event, which will be 25 metre race and soft ball throwing at Erdiston Primary School on Friday 16 from 8.30am until 3pm.
On Wednesday 21st of March from 9am until 4pm is the track and field event at The National Stadium.
On Friday 23th of March will be the Cricket tournament from 9.0am until 5pm, the venue is still to be announced.
The final event will be held on Monday 26th of March at the Aquatic Centre with a swimming gala from 9am.

One of the organizers, who specializes in sports tourism is keen to organize trips for families from other countries to come and enjoy Barbados and to let the children play and meet other children with similar difficulties, he would like to organize not only games but family picnics for the parents and children to get to know one another.
