Barbados to boost renewable energy use, reduce fossil fuel dependence with IDB help
Washington — Sept. 16, 2010 — Barbados will boost its use of renewable energy sources and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels with assistance from a US$45 million loan from the Inter-American Development Bank.
The program will help Barbados to introduce renewable energies in its energy mix, improve its energy efficiency, cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, promote climate change adaptation measures and energy conservation initiatives, and also reduce its exposure to oil price volatility.
